The Bad Boys Of MSNBC

MSNBC has been the talk of the town lately. We're desperately trying not to become a blog who reports on those who report only on MSNBC.

Regardless, the alleged boys club atmosphere at the network has become a major conversation piece. Media Matters is not only monitoring every word that comes out of the mouth of Chris Matthews but also demanding its readers voice their concern about the tone the network.

Alessandra Stanley of The New York Times sat through hours of MSNBC programming during last night's primary coverage and has this to report about the cabler's talking heads.

When talking about a member of Senator Hillary Clinton's campaign, Chris Matthews, uncharacteristically said, "What a nice person she is. And I mean this, she’s a friend of mine, they are all nice friends."

Said Tucker Carlson: He "rather sourly characterized Mrs. Clinton’s tactic as 'I am the victim of their hatred; they are being mean to me.'"

Most telling about the network's attitude is this following passage:

"Tuesday night, after MSNBC projected Mr. Obama’s victory in Virginia, Mr. Matthews apologized for using the words 'white men' to describe the breakdown of the vote. 'White men, I hate doing it like this,' Mr. Matthews said. 'White men, that’s how we talk now, are voting for Barack Obama.'"

Speaking as white males oursleves, we tend to disagree.
