Chris Matthews has a bit of a reputation of being a just a tad sexist at times (okay, exceptionally sexist at times) and a new women's group has had enough. You'll recall that Matthews has had less than chivalrous words for actress Kerry Washington, Senator Hillary Clinton and, as the LA Times points out, NBC colleague Erin Burnett.
The women's group, calling itself The New Agenda (Do they realize that, with that name, they've just inadvertently set themselves up for a whole slew of T 'N A jokes?), wants him off of the television airwaves saying, "Although several names were put on a 'to do' list, Chris Matthews was our unanimous choice as the worst offender on women’s issues, therefore the first person on whom we will focus."
They continued with this: "The kind of language he uses and the kind of behavior he exhibits in the public domain toward women objectifies them and leads to bad things for our society and to domestic violence." They wouldn't be the first organization to point this out. Media Matters has it's Matthews Monitor and has, for months, encouraged its readers to complain to his bosses at MSNBC.
According to the Times, Matthews's "contract is up for renewal next year." And if those rumors about his possible run for the Senate are true, Matthews will ditch MSNBC, thus granting The New Agenda their wish.

Chris Matthews is a sexist pig but doesn't this women's group have anything bigger to protest?
Who cares what Matthews does? No on watches MSNBC anyway.
a: i watch msnbc.
b: get over it ladies, she's not going to be president, ever.
Obama and Obamabots sexist campaign has spawned a revolt. You have the grassroots PUMAs who are going to exact a price for Obama's sexism, ie he won't get the White House, and the sexist elite in the Dem Party is going to either reform, or be doing battle with a large segment of their base.
Now we have a group that is going to set a new agenda to move women into a positon of equality in this country.
Women of all political beliefs are going to get behind this group. Women constitute the majority of the population, vote in much higher numbers than men - they decide the election. Once womens issues are being put on the table, the politicians are going to be doing everything they can to satisfy this group. It is about time.
I am looking forward to Chris Matthews being off the air.
I am looking forward to Chris Mattehew running for Senate when you have Puma and The New Agenda, ie women, aligned against him.
I am looking forward to paid maternity leave.
I am looking forward to seeing a majority of Cabinet posts be filled by women.
I am looking forward to equality.
Power to the PUMAS!
Those cats can really scratch.
I used to be a Hardball watcher, for the political content.
I became increasingly bothered by Matthews, nearly-constant, sexist treatment of women. Women on the Matthews show are routinely spoken over by male commentators and ignored by Matthews.
His "hard on" (to use his vernacular)for Hillary Clinton, has caused him to show his sneering, sexist attitude. The man behind the curtain is Chris Matthews. And if he's not attracted to a female commentator, HIS claws come out.
Maybe he should stick to a manly domain, like sports.

I know I am a bit late on this but anyone that can get Chris Matthews of the air is a great group. I hope he does run for the senate and goes down with a resounding defeat.
Hopefully, no other show will ever hire him again and therefore save us from ever seeing that Flannel Mouth slobbering all over himself.
